THE Andergrove Tavern is hosting a range of fundraising activities throughout the month of November, including gold coin donations, barbecues and raffles in support of the Movember Foundation.
Tomorrow, the tavern will host their Mo Men Party which will round out the month-long fundraising activity.
There will be a complementary barbecue, raffle draws, judging of the Quirkiest Patron Mo and live entertainment from 4pm.
Andergrove Tavern Venue manager Mark Singh said Movember was a time of sprouting of moustaches to raise vital funds and awareness for prostate cancer and depression in men.
"For the Andergrove Tavern Movember has become an important part of our yearly calendar. It is a way for us to mobilise the local community around this important issue and incite discussion and fundraising whilst including all the quirk and fun that comes along with the mo growing efforts throughout the month," Mr Singh said.
Since 2009, the hotel has raised $1968 for the Movember Foundation. In 2011, the hotel is aiming to further this effort by raising over $2500 to take the total funds raised for the Movember Foundation to over $4468.
"Our involvement in Movember has created a real connection with our local community," Mr Singh said.
"Pubs are a place where men generally feel comfortable and therefore provides a perfect platform for raising discussion and awareness around the often shunned issue of men's health."
This year, Andergrove Tavern will again rally its partners as they strive towards the 2011 fundraising target.

SLADE Point is looking forward to turning on the lights at Cathy Freeman Oval as it builds up its challenge for this season's Mackay rugby union premiership.
With club president Graeme Lodge and A-grade coach Michael Jackson back on board, the Slashers are looking to return in strength to the premiership which it dominated for the last decade, winning six of 10 titles, including four in a row.
With key players, coaches, sponsors and committee members returning and the development of Cathy Freeman Oval progressing the club is looking to build on its reserve grade premiership from 2010, Lodge said.
Key sponsors All Phones and the Andergrove Tavern are back again for another run, and key players are returning, including Slade Point's player of the season, Ryan Lawson, and former Australian schoolboy Adrian Davies.
We also have some excellent youth from the successful junior ranks, so the club is looking stronger.
About $50,000 worth of lighting is to be installed during the first half of the season at Cathy Freeman Oval, Slade Point, and plans are already being made to seek funds to upgrade the lighting further and construct new change facilities.
"This will make Cathy Freeman Oval a true alternative to Quarry Hill during the Mackay wet season when whole rounds of rugby are often lost due to the wet weather", Lodge said.
Last year was a good rebuilding year for us after losing a number of key players following a run of five consecutive A-grade grand final appearances and we're looking to keep the momentum going with key players and coaching staff coming back on board mixed with good group of juniors.
"Also, training on our own field has been a great boost to the players during the off-season."
Jackson said he felt the club's attitude and effort during pre-season is much better than it has been in recent years, when Slade Point.
"Our returning players have increased their commitment to A-grade rugby and new recruits look like they will add considerable value to our club," he said.
IT'S the one day of the year when you hear "Hey true blue", "fair dinkum" and "Oi you flaming galah!" in every conversation.
Many around the Mackay region were speaking the language of the land down under yesterday as they partied in their backyards and on the beach or took a crawl around some of Mackay's well-known pubs.
A Mackay police spokesperson said they had a strong presence around the region yesterday, with officers patrolling public spaces including parks and Harbour Beach. Most who were out and about were well behaved, the spokesperson said, but there were three arrests at Eimeo beach.
At the Old Railway Hotel it was a family affair for the Stuarts, who were at the Daily Mercury Aussie Crawl.
About 250 people joined the Crawl, which raised funds for the flood appeal and The Mackay Support Group for families with children affected by Down Syndrome.
Andrea Stuart and her two adult children, Jessica and Adam, decided to spend the day together and help out a charity.
"We will be walking to every pub and I will have a blister to prove it," Andrea joked.
"The best thing about Australia is it has a great lifestyle and is the best place to raise a family."
Adam and Jessica agreed adding that you can't go past a good old Aussie barbecue as well.
On the other side of town, at the Andergrove Tavern, sporting heroes were celebrating Australia Day at the beach olympics, competing in beach volleyball, cricket, keg and thong tosses and a cold pie eating contest.
Andergrove Tavern manager David Van den Boom said he had officially opened the beach olympics on Tuesday night by lighting a cauldron of fireworks.
Now in their third year, the beach olympics continued to get bigger and better, Mr Van den Boom said. This year 16 teams entered. Teams were competing for a full pallet of XXXX Gold, equal to 70 cartoons of beer.
"We came up with the idea of the beach olympics because, as Australians, we love to have fun in the sun," he said.
Mt Pleasant resident Rob Andrews said he had been coming to the Andergrove Tavern for the past three years and said his team had been the first to win the beach olympics.
We won the first one so, for me and my mates it has become a bit of tradition to come here every year.
"Australia Day is about traditions and celebrating them with your mates," he said.
